Our House ★★★☆☆

A young genius accidentally invents a device that amplifies the paranormal activity within his family’s house, possibly bringing back the spirits of loved ones, and unleashing things far worse.

This movie confirms my opinion of modern independent horror is so positive. Though not perfect and has its flaws, this supernatural drama/horror is a ghost story with modern technological elements that stands out.. not for its star-power, but for story and creep value.

When I watch a ghost story, I want to remember it afterward, not just sit and get bombarded with jump-scares.Toss in the story lines of loss and grief and you have a good story to watch. I didn’t see much in the way of stupid actions by our protagonist, at least not by american horror movie standards.

The acting was well done by all involved, including the youngest member of the cast (Kate Moyer). If you enjoy ghost stories, and arent looking for the normal barrage of jump scares and mindless stupidity which haunts most of hollywood in the last 20 years.. see “Our House”
