Splice

Two young rebellious scientists are told by their employers to halt groundbreaking work that has seen them produce new creatures with medical benefits by splicing together multiple organisms’ DNA. They decide to secretly continue their work, but this time splicing in human DNA.

This is, as some of my Facebook friends describe it, a troubling movie… And not because the science was faulty, or that the people involved broke ethical codes, left and right.. but, it may have something to do with this..

As a general rule, I’d have to say that if you’re creating a genetically modified humanoid hybrid. Don’t have sex with it. Yes, these scientists show the most incomprehensible lack of judgement, from beginning to end, even worse than Jurassic World.

Forget about breaking the law, when it comes to human cloning. These people

  1. Made a clone from their own DNA
  2. Treated it like a pet
  3. Treated it like a baby
  4. Removed it from a secured environment
  5. Treated it like their daughter
  6. …had sex with it

Honestly, they deserved what happened to them, in the end, they were stupid, stupid, people. But, other than the fact that our main characters are idiots, this was a well done scifi movie – though not for kids due to the sexual content. The CGI was very good, perhaps ahead of its time.
