The Possession of Michael King

Today, I watched “The Possession of Michael King” – the good, the bad, the ugly.. here is my take (spoilers, duh)

Michael King (Shane Johnson), who doesn’t believe in God or the Devil. Following the sudden death of his wife, Michael decides to make his next film about the search for the existence of the supernatural, making himself the center of the experiment – allowing demonologists, necromancers, and various practitioners of the occult to try the deepest and darkest spells and rituals they can find on him – in the hopes that when they fail, he’ll once and for all have proof that religion, spiritualism, and the paranormal are nothing more than myth. But something does happen. An evil and horrifying force has taken over Michael King. And it will not let him go.

As I’ve said before.. I know a bit about this sort of thing, it’s a hobby (studying that is, not practice). By no means am I an expert, but I’m certainly not a novice to the world of demonology. One thing I think we can all agree on is.. Not Invite these things in. Ever. Whether you believe in them or not doesn’t matter. I’ve seen some weird stuff in my day.

The only real issue I had is with.. you guessed it, the jump scares – which as we all know, I hate. With that being said.. this was surprisingly good for a low budget story, in the dreaded “Found Footage” genre. See it in a theater? perhaps not.. Mostly because it went straight to disk.. but it’s a good watch on Netflix or Amazon.
