The Rocky Horror Picture Show

I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to post a review on a movie that changed my life. Yes.. changed my life..

It’s the weird and wonderful as newly engaged couple Brad and Janet encounter a problem when their car halts in the rain. They both look for contact, only to find themselves at the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite. A place to stay is offered, but will Brad and Janet want to remain there? Especially when a large group of Transylvanians dance to the ‘Time Warp’, Dr. Frank-N-Furter builds his own man and a whole host of participation for the audience to enjoy. Written by simon

I was 12 years old when I first heard the music of RHPS.. When I was 13, I found the audience participation albun (vinyl LP) at a Caldor’s store.  I knew the sounds before I knew the spectical.

This is The definitive cult classic of the 20th century. What do I mean by that?

The Rocky Horror Picture Show, despite never winning an oscar or any type of official “Hollywood” award,  has been playing in theaters, consistently, for almost 40 years. With a devoted following of fans, official meetups, clubs, and the originators of “Shadow Casting” (live actors playing out the movie, under the screen during showtime). RHPS is a staple on TV on Halloween Eve, has been tributed on various TV Shows (and other movies), including an episode of “Glee“, “The Drew Carry Show“, “That 70’s Show“, “Fame (1980)“, “Halloween 2” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower“.

Fun. That is the only single word to funny describe RHPS. FUN. Don’t see it alone, watching at home will not give you the same experience (unless you’re having a big Rocky Party). Because it’s the audience partici….pation… that makes this more than a film, and makes it an experience. The Official RHPS Website has all the information you need to either find a theater near you, or plan your own, with the “audience participation” notes.

Science Fiction/Double Feature

To any true RHPS Fan, the Opening sequence gives you a chill down your spine as the theater goes black, and the ruby red lips (of Patricia Quinn) appear to sing you a song, in tribute to classic SciFi movies, including: The Day the Earth Stood Still, Flash Gordon, The Invisible Man, King Kong, It Came from Outer Space, Doctor X, Forbidden Planet, Tarantula, The Day of the Triffids, Curse of the Demon, When Worlds Collide and The Bride of Frankenstein.

The Time Warp

This was the first song I heard from RHPS, when I was 12. I caught the scene on Mtv on Halloween Night. I knew this song before I ever actually saw the movie in its entirety.

There is no review that can do this experience justice. Find a good theater with a good Shadow Cast.. and Don’t Dream it.. BE IT.
