So, this weekend the wife and I went and saw “San Andreas”. Spoilers, Ho!!
Ray (Dwayne Johnson) is a LAFD Search and Rescue super-man with over 600 saves under his belt. He is a (former) family man who loves his daughter, Blake (Alexandra Daddario) and is still in love with his Ex-wife, Emma (Carla Gugino) who is preparing to move into her new fiance’s house, millionaire land developer, Daniel (Ioan Gruffudd). Lawrence (Paul Giamatti) is a Cal-Tech Seismologist working on a system for earthquake detection with his partner. OK, that’s enough setup.
While at the Hoover Dam, monitoring some minor seismic activity, Lawrence’s detection system lights up like a christmas tree and a 7.1 magnitude quake rocks Hoover Dam, Destroying it and sending a wave speeding toward Las Vegas.. the devastation of the famous Las Vegas Strip was incredible to see Completely overlooked and would have added to this movie.
Back at Cal-Tech, monitors now pick up a mass of activity along the San Andreas fault line. Let the Devastation Begin!!
The next 90 minutes are just filled with back to back action and destruction. This movie really lived up to the hype as the blockbuster disaster movie of 2015.
Honestly, I don’t have anything particularly bad to say about this one. It was as billed and as good as I expected it to be. If you like action, and mass destruction, you will like this movie. The acting was surprisingly good, the effects were state of the art.. ranking right up there with 2012, but on a smaller scale.
