Red Riding Hood

A medieval village is under siege by a werewolf. For two generations, the offering of a farm animal has kept the beast at bay on the full moon.. until this night. A girl is slaughtered. Local priest summons Father Solomon to rid the land of this unholy terror, much to the dismay of anyone he deems to be communing with the devil. A woodsman and a blacksmith must fight to defend the girl that they both love.. a girl with a red hooded cloak.. against the monster in their midst’s, and the werewolf at their door..

This.. is not a great movie.

I’ve often said that, trying to take a very (very very) short story and trying to make a 90+ minute movie out of it, never ends well.. they had to add so much that just really took away from the original fairy tale, that it became something different entirely. “Red Riding Hood in Name Only” throws a quick nod to the children’s tale in there very briefly in a dream.

Oh.. with a celebration about a 1/3 of the way through.. with music that is really not fitting with the medieval scene.

So, basically what we have here is a werewolf story with a misleading title. It’s fine for younger audiences, I suppose (teens, not small children), but this was not what I signed up for.
